When possible, Couper -et- Coudre source dead-stock material that would otherwise be discarded to create new items.
By Fleur in her South East London studio
The leather used in most of Couper -et- Coudre’s collection is created with Tuscan, vegetable tanned leather. A by product of the food industry and toxin free.
Couper -et- Coudre comes from the French verbs meaning ‘to cut’ & ‘to sew’ and that is exactly what Fleur does for each handcrafted bag, purse and accessory you order.
One off designs, made to order and with ethics and sustainability at heart – Couper -et- Coudre produces high quality, beautiful accessories that will last.
Only vegetable tanned leather, reclaimed leather and organic materials are used to craft Couper -et- Coudre’s collection . The vegetable tanned leather is sourced from a tannery in Tuscany that produces chemical free leather using only by products from the food industry – which would otherwise be discarded.
You can find more information about the tannery here.
Reclaimed leather is sourced from warehouses where dead stock material would otherwise be discarded. This leather is used to make one off designs or a small collection of pieces.
All hardware used on Couper -et- Coudre’s accessories are handmade by a UK manufacturer, and only vintage or organic fabrics are used to make all the non-leather products – all guaranteed fair trade and GOTS certified.
