Pioneers of sustainable luxury
Elvis & Kresse are pioneers in sustainable luxury, reclaiming waste to produce stunning accessories and homeware that will last a lifetime. From a chance meeting in 2005, London’s firehose was the first waste material rescued by Elvis & Kresse. Learning that all damaged and decommissioned fire hose ends in landfill, Elvis & Kresse set out to resolve this and have since rescued 200 tonnes of firehose, transforming it into beautiful lifestyle products. Pieces like their unique and durable weekend bags.
The rescue didn’t end there and Elvis & Kresse have since gone on to transform waste leather from Burberry into luxury bags like this gorgeous clutch; they rescue parachute silk to line their bags; coffee sack string to tie the tags to their products; and printing blankets to create new bags – the list goes on!
Elvis & Kresse’ is truly a business built to offer a solution to our environmental problems – particularly our mounting waste problem. They inspire others to consider how they can re-use existing materials, while creating beautiful things.
Giving back is a big part of Elvis & Kresse business, with 50% of all profits donated to charities. 50% of profits from their fire hose collection is donated to the Firefighters Charity, and profits from the Fire & Hide collection benefits the Barefoot College – training women in India in the design, installation and maintenance of solar systems that provide light and electricity to their villages. They are known as “Barefoot Solar Engineers” or, more colloquially, “Solar Mamas”.
