These are the most unique books we’ve come across for children – a wonderful story to read and then plant to meet the main character grow in your own garden or kitchen!

Printed on recycled paper and filled with seeds, these books give two gifts in one. Children will love the heart warming stories, and then have fun growing their own vegetables.

We have two vegetable stories available – ‘The carrot who was too big for his bed’, and ‘The Lettuce who wanted a new look’.

We also offer a children’s gift set including these plantable books – see our Mini Nature Activity Set.

The plantable children’s book

The first of their kind – children’s book that are plantable, encouraging your children to plant, grow and take care of the food they eat.

The books are made in Leicester, England in a fourth generation printing company – which has been in founder, Tom’s, family for 76 years.

The unique books that Will Sow make are ideal for encouraging children to consider where the food they eat comes from, as well as opening discussions about recycling (all paper used in the books is from post consumer waste) and the environment.

The paper used in the books is recycled from schools and businesses and then handmade to embed the seeds into the sheets. Will Sow use vegetable based dyes and no toxic glue or other materials are used, as the pages are sewn together with natural cotton.

The seeds can be planted in a garden or on a windowsill, giving the opportunity to all children to try growing vegetables for the first time.

Product detail
Materials: Recycled post consumer waste and non GMO vegetable seeds How do I grow my seeds? It’s really simple, place your page on soil that is slightly compressed, but not too hard-packed. Add roughly 2cm of soil on top of the paper and give it a good drink of water every day. For best results, make sure it gets plenty of sunshine. This will vary depending on the vegetable and each book comes with specific instructions, but a good rule of thumb is that Spring when it’s a bit warmer, is the best time to plant if you live in an area where the ground does not freeze at that time of year. Each book has specific instructions on how best to plant and grow that particular vegetable. If you haven’t got access to a garden, Willsow seed paper can be planted indoors in pots, as long as you ensure they get plenty of daylight and water. Please note that because the paper is made by hand, there may be a slight variation in the thickness from sheet to sheet. Due to the post-consumer waste fiber content, a slight variation in the shade of the paper may also occur.
